Dress for the Job You Want

No this isn't an article about what you should wear to work. But I'm using that familiar adage to talk about goals and preparing for the future. You may have also heard a phrase used and debated quite often that says, "Fake it til you Make it." That idea often refers to a belief in acting and believing as if the goals and dreams that you have are actually or nearly, a reality. Maybe the phrase I coin in today's blog title might be better used and come with a little less debate. It says, "Dress for the job you want, not the job you have." Either one takes on a notion that your mind is fully engaged in the dream that you have for the future. Therefore, your decisions and your actions will be based on that truth. Even before it manifests itself in your life. I guess the active debate would come when decisions that you might make could have negative effects on your life when the aspirations that you have, are not present yet. Obviously in this case I would recommend that you use caution in what you do. Let's look at the other side of the spectrum. If you have dreams of success in your business or personal life and you can't seem to visualize it, then it will no doubt be harder to make them come true. You must step out and make plans for this success and even put yourself in a position where you can imagine it. If all you do is sit alone and dream of it, you might get a few minutes of personal pleasure. But if you can act on it even in a small way, then you instantly become closer to achieving your goals. I am making plans now that might seem ahead of themselves when you look at the facts on paper. But I am confident, yes even certain that I will reach the level that I am thinking of. I'm just trying to make sure I am better prepared when I get there.
