about us

This ministry is an answer to the call from God on the life of John Wesley Baxley. John was raised in the church. He was baptized and confirmed in Grace United Church of Christ, Baltimore, MD. He even had the opportunity as a teenager to preach at this church as well as Protestant Community UCC, also in Baltimore. As a young child, on Sunday mornings, John would race to the primary room and read the illustrated Bible found on the shelf. John’s parents made a financial sacrifice to buy a multi volume collection called “Bible Stories” for him. His yearning for biblical knowledge was never quenched. At the age of 12, John thought that he would like to become a minister. He inquired of his pastor what he should do to prepare. He began taking lessons in greek at this young age. One Saturday, when John and his mother were coming home from church after choir practice and greek lessons, there was a terrible thunderstorm. John remembered the story of a young Martin Luther who traveled through a similar storm and prayed that if he made it home safe, he would become a monk. John felt a connection with God at this time and made a similar pledge. More to come…
